STRICKLY BUSINESS est une performance d’endurance du collectif HOT 4 THE MOMENT qui utilise l’humour et la répétition en estampe pour interroger l’absurdité des idéaux capitalistes, la disparité des richesses entre les sexes et le travail sous-évalué. Mimant la glorification de la richesse par la culture pop et la production constante pour gagner sa vie, cette performance d’endurance suit une opération de fabrication d’argent - imprimer, couper et empiler des billets d’un dollar, ainsi de suite.

Georgia Dawkin et Drew Pardy sont les deux moitiés du collier d’amitié en forme de coeur qui se définit également par le nom de HOT 4 THE MOMENT.  Ce collectif créatif s’est développé comme un moyen pour ces deux artistes de combiner les thèmes communs dans leur travail, et de leur permettre un espace de jeu dans leurs pratiques artistiques combinés. HOT 4 THE MOMENT a exposé à Eastern Edge Gallery (NL), Neutral Ground Artist Run Centre (SK), a conçu des décors pour le Lawnya Vawnya Music Festival (NL), s’est produit à CB Nuit (NL) et a été le 2024 Elbow Room Artists in Residence à The Rooms (NL). Georgia et Drew sont basés à St. John’s, à Terre-Neuve, et ont obtenu leur baccalauréat en arts visuels au Grenfell Campus de l’Université Memorial.

Cette performance est ouverte à toustes et fait partie de la programmation officielle du Symposium Arts Atlantique

Georgia Dawkin and Drew Pardy are the two halves of the friendship heart necklace that is HOT 4 THE MOMENT. A creative collective, HOT 4 THE MOMENT developed as a way for Georgia Dawkin and Drew Pardy to combine common themes within their work, and to provide a space for play within their art practices. HOT 4 THE MOMENT has exhibited in Eastern Edge Gallery (NL), Neutral Ground Artist Run Centre (SK), designed sets for Lawnya Vawnya Music Festival (NL), performed at CB Nuit (NL) and were the 2024 Elbow Room Artists in Residence at The Rooms (NL). Both Georgia and Drew are currently based in St.John’s, NL and have received their BFAs from Grenfell Campus, Memorial University.

This performance is open to everyone and is part of the official program of the Arts Atlantique Symposium

Atelier - Rotchild Choisy - Collaboration - Projet Borgitte

C’est avec joie que nous annonçons le premier atelier créatif qui se tiendra sur le site du Projet Borgitte.

L’atelier s’intitule « portrait varye » et sera animé par Rotchild Choisy

Le Projet Borgitte est un organisme sans but lucratif qui participe à l’épanouissement, la consolidation et le rayonnement du milieu culturel acadien en créant des partenariats avec des institutions, festivals et organismes locaux. Sa mission est de favoriser le travail, la diffusion et les rencontres d’artistes d’horizons variés, avec le français comme langue d’échange en mettant à leur disposition un site pour l’accueil de résidences. Le Projet Borgitte contribue à l’offre culturelle régionale en organisant des sorties de résidence, ouvertes au public, sous la forme d’ateliers de création, de sessions d’improvisation, de cabarets littéraires et de conférences d’artistes.

Rotchild Choisy est un artiste haïtien multidisciplinaire émergent qui détient un Baccalauréat en arts visuels (2022) de l’Université de Moncton. Entre avril et juin 2022, il a présenté ses créations dans une série d’expositions individuelles au salon culturel de l’Alliance Française, à la Galerie d’art Louise-et-Reuben-Cohen et à la Salle Sans Sous de la Galerie Sans Nom, toutes à Moncton. Il a aussi obtenu plusieurs bourses de leadership ainsi que la Bourse de mérite de la Fondation Sheila Hugh Mackay en 2020. Il a récemment présenté ses œuvres dans une exposition solo à la Galerie d’art du Capitol Théâtre intitulée E.S.M.I, dans la 7e édition de la foire d’art alternatif de Sudbury et dans une installation collective à l’Académie Sainte-Famille dans le cadre de Dialogues Riopelle, célébrant le 100e anniversaire de naissance de l’artiste et il a été sélectionné pour le Studio Watch de la Galerie d'art Beaverbrook en 2023.

We are delighted to announce the first creative workshop to be held at Projet Borgitte.

The workshop is titled “portrait varye” and will be led by Rotchild Choisy

The Borgitte Project is a non-profit organization that contributes to the development, consolidation, and promotion of the Acadian cultural community by creating partnerships with local institutions, festivals, and organizations. Its mission is to foster the work, dissemination, and encounters of artists from diverse backgrounds, with French as the language of exchange, by providing them with a site to host residencies. The Borgitte Project contributes to the regional cultural scene by organizing residency outings open to the public, in the form of creative workshops, improvisation sessions, literary cabarets, and artist talks.

Rotchild Choisy is an emerging multidisciplinary Haitian artist who holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts (2022) from the University of Moncton. Between April and June 2022, he presented his work in a series of solo exhibitions at the Alliance Française cultural center, the Louise-et-Reuben-Cohen Art Gallery, and the Salle Sans Sous at Galerie Sans Nom, all in Moncton. He has also received several leadership scholarships, as well as the Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation Merit Scholarship in 2020. He recently presented his works in a solo exhibition at the Capitol Theatre Art Gallery titled E.S.M.I, at the 7th edition of the Sudbury Alternative Art Fair, and in a group installation at the Académie Sainte-Famille as part of Dialogues Riopelle, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the artist’s birth, and he was selected for the Beaverbrook Art Gallery’s Studio Watch in 2023.

Bourse Imago et Exposition - Nathalie Martin

Nathalie Martin est une artiste émergente de Dieppe, au Nouveau-Brunswick. Elle obtient son baccalauréat en beaux-arts de l'Université Mount Allison en 2023, avec des concentrations en photographie et en gravure. Son processus est profondément lié à la répétition et à la configuration de motifs sur une surface donnée. Dans ces œuvres, elle tente d'évoquer et d'opposer les concepts de chaos sous contrôle. Les œuvres qui en résultent sont des exercices picturaux ciblés et fastidieux, contenant souvent des formes géométriques et des motifs d'images. Nathalie s'intéresse à l'art, à l'éducation et aux activités culturelles dans les milieux communautaires, car elle souhaite en fin de compte rassembler les artistes dans des environnements de collaboration et de soutien, ainsi qu'encourager les occasions d'engagement et d'échange au sein d'une communauté plus large.

Nathalie Martin is an emerging artist from Dieppe, New Brunswick, having received her BFA from Mount Allison University in 2023, with concentrations in photography and printmaking. Her process is deeply linked to the repetition and configuration of motifs on a given surface. In this, she attempts to evoke and contrast concepts of chaos and control. The resulting works are focused and tedious pictorial exercises, often containing geometrical shapes and image patterns.

Nathalie is interested in art, education and cultural activities in community settings as she ultimately desires to bring artists together in collaborative and supportive environments, as well as encourage opportunities of engagement and exchange within a broader community.

Symposium Arts Atlantic - projet avec St Michaels

Convergence est une exposition organisée en collaboration entre l’atelier d’estampe Imago et St. Michael's Printshop (St. John's, Terre-Neuve). Deux artistes-membres d'Imago et deux de St. Michael's ont produit des œuvres imprimées autour du thème de la convergence, célébrant ainsi l'esprit de collaboration inhérent aux graveurs, en particulier dans les ateliers de production partagés.

Ce thème symbolise non seulement l'union des forces des deux ateliers d'impression, mais souligne également l'esprit de collaboration inhérent à la gravure et aux espaces de studio partagés. Célébrant la vibrante tradition de la gravure dans les provinces atlantiques, les artistes échangeront leurs œuvres, de sorte que chacun d'entre eux disposera d'un ensemble d'estampes. Le projet aboutira à deux expositions: les estampes seront d'abord exposées à Imago lors du symposium Arts Atlantic, puis à St Michael's Printshop, offrant un aperçu inspirant du pouvoir de la collaboration artistique. L'exposition résultante de cette collaboration entre ateliers CONVERGENCE sera en montre sur le mur Imago à partir du vendredi, 11 octobre et cela jusqu'au 7 novembre 2024 avec des oeuvres de Blake Morin, Marjolaine Bourgeois, Levana Katz et Ignatius Baker.

Convergence is a collaborative exhibition between Imago Printshop and St. Michael's Printshop in St. John's, Newfoundland. Two artist-members from Imago and two from St. Michael's produced print works around the theme of convergence, celebrating the spirit of collaboration inherent in printmakers and especially in shared production studios.

This theme not only symbolizes the joining forces of the two print shops, but also underscores the collaborative spirit inherent in printmaking and shared studio spaces. Celebrating the vibrant tradition of printmaking in the Atlantic provinces, the artists will exchange their work, so that each will have a set of prints. The project will culminate in two exhibitions: first at Imago during the Arts Atlantic symposium, then at St Michael's Printshop, offering an inspiring glimpse into the power of artistic collaboration. CONVERGENCE, the resulting exhibition of this double studio collaboration, will be on display on the Imago wall as of Friday, October 11th until November 7th with works by Blake Morin, Marjolaine Bourgeois, Levana Katz and Ignatius Baker.
