Il s’agit d’un premier projet curatorial pour l’artiste-photographe Marie-France Robichaud en puisant dans nos archives avec une optique d’exploration photographique dans nos tiroirs d’estampes.

Memento vivere, provenant du latin, signifie « se souvenir de vivre ». Aujourd'hui, il est devenu primordial de s'interroger sur la manière dont nous pouvons célébrer notre vie tout étant allumé à ces inégalités et en ressentant toutes la gamme d’émotions qui s’en suit. — M-F Robichaud

Les œuvres réunies pour l’exposition, provenant toutes de la collection d'archives de l'atelier d'estampe Imago, se focalisent autour du thème du "vivre" en explorant ses multiples formes possibles; soit le réel, l'imaginaire, et leur entre-deux. De même, l'exposition s'articule autour des mots suivants : régénérer, rééquilibrer, harmoniser, énergiser et protéger. La disposition simple et linéaire des œuvres facilite leur contemplation individuelle et permet au spectateur de créer son propre dialogue avec et entre elles. Sans négliger le contenu, la perspective artistique et l'intention de chaque œuvre en soi, l'utilisation dʼune approche photographique, autant au niveau de la technique et de l'intention ont également influencé la sélection finale. 

Cette exposition est en montre sur le mur Imago jusqu’au 14 avril, 2025 au premier étage du Centre Culturel Aberdeen. Memento vivere est exposé dans le cadre du Festival Photo E(a)st.

This is artist-photographer Marie-France Robichaud’s first curatorial project, drawing on our archives with an eye towards photographic exploration inside our print drawers.

“Memento vivere, from the Latin, means “to remember to live”. Today, it has become essential to ask ourselves how we can celebrate our lives while being switched on to its inequalities and feeling all the range of emotions that follow.” - M-F Robichaud

The works gathered for this exhibition, all from the Imago print studio's archive collection, focus on the theme of “living”, exploring its multiple possible forms: the real, the imaginary, and their in-between. Similarly, the exhibition is structured around the following words: regenerate, rebalance, harmonize, energize and protect. The simple, linear layout of the works facilitates individual contemplation and allows viewers to create their own dialogue with and among them. While not overlooking the content, artistic perspective and intention of each work in itself, the use of a photographic approach, in terms of both technique and intention, also influenced the final selection. 

This exhibition is on display on the Imago wall until April 14, 2025 on the first floor of Centre Culturel Aberdeen. Memento vivere is exhibitied as part of the Festival Photo E(a)st.

Cette année, le projet Épistola se renouvelle avec de nouveaux partenaires et une grande aventure.

L’artiste et écrivaine Céline Huyghebaert a été sélectionnée pour faire une résidence-voyage en train, gracieuseté de VIA Rail et le Consulat général de France à Moncton et Halifax. Céline est présentement en résidence de création sur le train VIA Rail Canada avec des arrêts à Toronto, Montréal, Halifax et Moncton du 2 au 12 avril. Suite à ces voyages, Céline sera en résidence à l’atelier d’estampe Imago du 12 au 30 avril. Suivez son trajet sur sa page Instragram @andreahenter.

Céline Huyghebaert est artiste, écrivaine et chercheuse. Elle travaille à la croisée de la littérature et des arts visuels à travers des gravures, des zines, des livres, des expositions et des collaborations. En 2019, elle a reçu la Bourse Claudine et Stephen Bronfman en art contemporain pour sa pratique artistique et le Prix littéraire du Gouverneur général pour Le drap blanc (Le Quartanier). Née en France, elle vit à Montréal depuis 2002.

Céline présentera également l'exposition « Si cette peau venait à se rompre » sur le mur d'exposition de l'Atelier d'estampe Imago (1er étage du Centre culturel d'Aberdeen) du 5 au 29 avril.

This year, the Épistola project is renewed with new partners and a great adventure.

Artist and writer Céline Huyghebaert has been selected for a train residency, courtesy of VIA Rail and the Consulate General of France in Moncton and Halifax. Céline is currently in creative residency on the VIA Rail Canada train, with stops in Toronto, Montreal, Halifax and Moncton from April 2 to 12. Following these trips, Céline will be in residence at the Imago print studio from April 12 to 30. Follow Céline on her trip on her Instagram page @andreahenter.

Céline Huyghebaert is an artist, a writer and a researcher. She works at the intersection of literature and visual art through prints, zines, books, exhibitions and collaborations. In 2019, she won the Governor General’s Literary Award for French-language Fiction for her first novel, Le drap blanc, published by Le Quartanier, and she was awarded the Bronfman Fellowship in Contemporary Art. Born in France, she has been living in Montréal since 2002.

Céline will also present the exhibition “Si cette peau venait à se rompre” on the exhibition wall of the Atelier d’estampe Imago (1st floor of the Aberdeen Cultural Centre) from April 5 to 29.

Exposition présente le travail en estampe de six élèves de l’école secondaire L’Odyssée

L’exposition La jeunesse d’ici présente le travail en estampe de 6 élèves de l’école secondaire L’Odyssée dans le cadre du programme Jeunesse créative NB Artful Youth, lequel est parrainé par la fondation Sheila Hugh Mackay. Ce projet provincial dédié aux élèves du secondaire offre des possibilités de mentorat avec des artistes et professionnel.les du milieu des arts visuels Néo-Brunswickois par l’entremise de partenariat avec dix centres et/ou organismes culturels provinciaux. Ces mentorats sont offerts avec l'espoir d'encourager les élèves participant·es à poursuivre des études postsecondaires dans le domaine des arts visuels ou des métiers d’art.

Six élèves de l'école secondaire l'Odyssée ont reçu 16 heures de formation en estampe grâce à un partenariat avec l’atelier d’estampe Imago (Centre Culturel Aberdeen), un atelier dédié à la production et au soutien des pratiques actuelles en estampe.

Ces jeunes artistes en herbe ont appris·es plusieurs techniques en gravure grâce à Carole Deveau, la technicienne de l’atelier d’estampe Imago. Collectivement, le groupe a choisi d’approfondir leur connaissance en linogravure.

En s’inspirant de la thématique des espèces de flores et de faunes en voies de disparition au Nouveau-Brunswick, ces jeunes personnes ont conceptualisé, gravé et imprimé deux œuvres chaque, soit une de petit format et une de format moyen.

L’atelier d’estampe Imago tient à remercier Carole Deveau, technicienne en estampe, et Dominik Robichaud, enseignante en arts visuels de l’école l’Odyssée, pour leur encadrement bienveillant des participant·es de ce projet.

The exhibition La jeunesse d'ici presents the printmaking work of 6 students from École secondaire L'Odyssée as part of the Jeunesse créative NB Artful Youth program, sponsored by the Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation. This province-wide project dedicated to high school students offers mentorship opportunities with New Brunswick visual artists and professionals through partnerships with ten provincial cultural centres and/or organizations. These mentorships are offered with the hope of encouraging participating students to pursue post-secondary studies in the visual arts or fine crafts.

Six students from École secondaire l'Odyssée received 16 hours of training in printmaking thanks to a partnership with Imago (Centre Culturel Aberdeen), an artist-run studio dedicated to the production and support of current printmaking practices.

These budding young artists were introduced to a range of printmaking techniques by Carole Deveau, Imago's printmaking technician. Collectively, the group chose to deepen their knowledge of linocut.

Inspired by the theme of endangered species of flora and fauna in New Brunswick, these young people conceptualized, engraved and printed two works each, one small format and one medium format.
