Éloïse Plamondon-Pagé est en résidence à l'Atelier Imago du 12 janvier au 1er février. Venez la visiter à l'atelier et discuter de son travail lors d'un 5 à 7 le mercredi 29 janvier. Éloïse débutera sa présentation à 17h45.

Basée à Québec, Éloïse Plamondon-Pagé se consacre à une pratique artistique alliant estampe, installation, vidéo et photographie. Son travail a été présenté dans plusieurs expositions individuelles, collectives, et projets de résidence de recherche-création au Canada, aux États-Unis, en Allemagne, en France, en Italie, au Portugal, en Islande, en Chine et au Japon. À l’automne 2019, Éloïse a appris les bases du Mokuhanga auprès de Senseis japonais dans le cadre d’une formation de plus de 300 heures au MI-Lab Artist Residency (Japon). Cette expérience fut des plus enrichissantes pour l’artiste qui est littéralement tombée en amour avec la culture japonaise et avec le Mokuhanga, cette technique ancestrale de gravure sur bois et d’impression ayant vu le jour au 17e siècle.

Éloïse Plamondon-Pagé is the artist in residence at Imago from January 12th to February 1st. Join us at the studio for Happy Hour and a casual discussion of her work fron 5 to 7pm on Wednesday January 29th. Éloïse will start her presentation at 5:45pm.

Based in Quebec, Éloïse Plamondon-Pagé is dedicated to an artistic practice combining print, installation, video and photography. Her work has been presented in many individual, group exhibitions and research-creation residency projects in Canada, the United States, Germany, France, Italy, Portugal, Iceland, China and Japan. In the fall of 2019, Éloïse learned the basics of Mokuhanga from Japanese Senseis in a course of more than 300 hours at MI-Lab Artist Residency (Japan). This experience was very enriching for the artist who literally fell in love with Japanese culture and with Mokuhanga, this ancestral technique of wood engraving and printing having emerged in the 17th century.

Atelier d'introduction au Mokuhaga avec Éloïse Plamondon-Pagé

Atelier de Mokuhanga le 18 et 19 janvier 2020.

Éloise Plamondon-Pagé (Québec, QC) sera en résidence à l'atelier Imago du 12 au 30 janvier 2020 et offrira un atelier d'introduction au Mokuhanga; technique traditionnelle japonaise de gravure sur bois. Le Mokuhanga consiste à graver une image dans un bloc de bois et l'imprimer avec des encres à base d'eau sur des papiers japonais. L'atelier aura lieu sur deux jours, le samedi 18 janvier et le dimanche 19 janvier de 10h à 15h.
 
Le coût de l’atelier est 80$ (matériel inclus) et doit être payé au complet avant le 12 janvier. L'atelier est ouvert à tous, aucune expérience nécessaire. Éloise Plamondon-Pagé will be at Imago for an artist residency from January 12th to 30th. During her time here, she will be offering an introduction to Mokuhanga workshop on January 18th and 19th. This workshop will be offered in French only.

Rachel M Thornton: uranography

Le film uranography propose un nouvel agencement des étoiles du ciel nocturne. Inspirée de l'histoire de l'astronomie, de la cartographie céleste et des représentations mythologiques d'Uranie, la vidéo allie une version réinventée du cosmos aux étoiles existantes pour créer un nouvel arrangement des étoiles. L'intouchable cosmos est manipulé par une voix narrative silencieuse et anonyme à l'aide de dessins, d'images imprimées et de séquences de films trouvées.

Rachel M Thornton est une artiste émergente et une commissaire, descendante des premiers colons. Elle vit présentement sur les terres non-cédées des nations Micmac et Wolastoqiyik (Sigenigteoag / Sackville, N.-B.). Elle explore sa fascination pour le cosmos par l'entremise de divers médiums, dont le dessin, la vidéo et le numérique.

Elle détient un Baccalauréat en arts visuels avec distinction de l'université Mount Allison à Sackville et est étudiante au programme de maîtrise en arts visuels au Open College of the Arts à Barnsley, au Royaume-Uni.

Cette exposition est présentée dans le cadre du Volet Arts Médiatiques du Festival international du cinéma francophone en Acadie (FICFA).

The film uranography animates a new proposition for the ordering of stars in the night sky. Drawing upon the history of astronomy, celestial cartography and mythological representations of Urania, this video combines newly imagined and pre-existing stars to create a new arrangement of the cosmos. Using print, found footage and drawing, the untouchable cosmos becomes handheld by an anonymous, silent narrator.

Rachel M Thornton is an emerging artist and curator of settler origins currently residing on the unceded, ancestral lands of the Mi'kmaq and Wolastoqiyik Nations (Sigenigteoag/Sackville, NB). Her fascination with understanding the cosmos has manifested itself as drawings, videos and online projects.

She holds a BFA with distinction from Mount Allison University, Sackville NB and is an MA Fine Arts Candidate at the Open College of the Arts, Barnsley, UK.

This exhibit is presented as part of the Media Arts Component of the Festival international du cinéma francophone en Acadie (FICFA)”

Atelier "Sweet Condensed Etching" avec Erik Edson (Sackville) le 26 octobre

Erik Edson (Sackville) était en visite à l’atelier Imago le samedi 26 octobre 2019 pour offrir un atelier de gravure sur plaque de cuivre.

Erik Edson (Sackville) hosted an etching workshop at Imago on October 26th 2019. Participants learned how to create an etching on copper plates using sweet condensed milk and screenprinting methods.

Erik Edson est un artiste canadien qui travaille dans le domaine de l’estampe et de l’installation. Il détient une maîtrise en arts visuels de l’Université Windsor et un bacc. en arts visuels de Queen’s University. Il est présentement professeur d’estampe et de dessin à l’université Mount Allison à Sackville.

Erik Edson is a Canadian print and installation artist who received a Masters of Visual Art from The University of Windsor and his Bachelor of Fine Art at Queen’s University. He is currently a Professor of printmaking and drawing at Mount Allison University.
