Les oeuvres présentés ont été créés lors de résidences d’artistes à l’Académie Ste-Famille (Tracadie, NB) en juin 2023 dans le cadre du projet national Dialogues Riopelle. Chacun des artistes était appelé à explorer les thématiques prisées par Jean Paul Riopelle lors de sa carrière. Ce projet pancanadien ambitieux, initié par la Fondation Riopelle, en collaboration avec le ministère du Patrimoine canadien et Culture pour tous, a permis è des artistes d’un océan à l’autre de réaliser neuf projets de médiation culturelle afin de faire découvrir l’œuvre et le legs de Jean Paul Riopelle au public canadien, alors que l’artiste aurait célébré son 100e anniversaire de naissance en 2023.
Les artistes participants (en ordre d’exposition) Gordon Sparks, Caitlin Wilson et Rotchild Choisy, ont pratiqué différents types d’estampes lors de leurs résidences avec de l’équipement de l’Atelier d’estampe Imago, soit la linogravure, l’impression intaglio avec TetraPak et le transfert d’image avec l’huile de thé des bois.

The works presented were created during artist residencies at Académie Ste-Famille (Tracadie, NB) in June 2023 as part of the national Dialogues Riopelle project. Each artist was called upon to explore the themes favored by Jean Paul Riopelle throughout his career. This ambitious pan-Canadian project, initiated by the Fondation Riopelle in collaboration with the Department of Canadian Heritage and Culture pour tous, enabled artists from coast to coast to carry out nine cultural mediation projects designed to introduce the Canadian public to the work and legacy of Jean Paul Riopelle, who would have celebrated his 100th birthday in 2023.
Participating artists (in exhibition order) Gordon Sparks, Caitlin Wilson and Rotchild Choisy, practiced various types of printmaking during their residencies with equipment from Atelier d’estampe Imago, including linocut, intaglio printing with TetraPak and image transfer with wintergreen oil.
