jè-st’, festival d’art performatif et d’intervention,  est un événement bisannuel qui investit et transforme l’espace public. Pour l'édition 2013,  la piste de réflexion est le « détournement ».  Les artistes joueront et détourneront la fonction première d'éléments communs et familiers.

jè-st’ is a biannual performance and intervention festival that infiltrates and transforms public space. This year artists will reflect upon «détournement», taking common and familiar elements and giving them new meaning.

jè-st’ est une collaboration entre l'atelier d'estampe Imago, La Galerie d'art Louise et Reuben-Cohen de l'Université de Moncton et Galerie Sans Nom.

Stefan Hoffmann en résidence à Imago du 12 septembre au 7 octobre 2013

Stefan Hoffmann sera en résidence à l’atelier d’estampe Imago du 12 septembre au 7 octobre. Pendant ce temps, il travaillera avec le YMCA et le Centre culturel Aberdeen pour réaliser un projet d’impression verticale sur les fenêtres et les murs. Hoffmann donnera un atelier suivant cette démarche à Imago le samedi 5 octobre et le dimanche 6 octobre de 13 h à 17 h. Veuillez vous inscrire au 388-1431. L’artiste donnera  également une présentation publique de son travail à Imago le mercredi 2 octobre, à 17 h 30. Cette présentation est gratuite et ouverte à tous. 

Stefan Hoffman will be in residence at Imago artist-run print studio, from September 12 until October 7. During this time, Hoffmann will be working with the YMCA and the Aberdeen Cultural Centre for his interventionist project of printing on walls and windows. Hoffmann will give a workshop on vertical printing on Saturday October 5 and Sunday October 6 from 1pm until 5pm. Registration is required: 388-1431. The artist will also give a public presentation of his work on Wednesday October 2 at 5:30 pm at Imago. This talk is free and open to all.

Leyla Majeri en résidence à Imago du 9 au 19 septembre 2013

Présentation de l'artiste le mardi 17 septembre à 17h30

Musicienne et artiste en arts visuels, Leyla Majeri réalise de petits films d'animation sans caméra à partir d'impressions sur pellicule. La bande-son du film constitue sa partie sonore, les images imprimées sur cette section de la pellicule peuvent être traduites en sons grâce à une lecture optique du projecteur. Durant sa résidence à Imago, Majeri compte poursuivre dans ce sens et réaliser une série d'impressions sur film à partir de ses dessins afin d'explorer leur dimension sonore.

Majeri joue également de la batterie dans le duo de musique expérimentale « noise » Yomul Yuk et crée des interventions visuelles et sonores en collaboration avec la musicienne montréalaise Katherine Kline. Son travail a été présenté au Canada, aux États-Unis, en Europe et au Japon ainsi que dans le cadre d'événements tels que All Tomorrow's Parties (Angleterre), Ecstatic Festival (Amherst, MA), Transmodern Art (Baltimore, MD), Ende Tymes (Brooklyn, NY), Tone Deaf (Kingston, On), Suoni per il Popolo (Montréal) et MUTEK (Montréal).

Leyla Majeri artist in residence from September 9th until September 19th 2013

Artist Talk, Tuesday September 17th, 5h30pm

Musician and visual artist, Majeri makes short animation films without the use of a camera by screen printing on film. The sound track of the film is literally a part of the film next to the image.  Images screenprinted on the sound track of the film can then be translated into sound tracks to the optical sound reader of a projector. During her time at Imago, Majeri will continue in this direction exploring the sound component of different drawing techniques on film.

Majeri's work has been shown in Canada, the United States, in Europe and Japan and also presented in such events as All Tomorrow's Parties (England), Ecstatic Festival (Amherst, MA), Transmodern Art (Baltimore, MD), Ende Tymes (Brooklyn, NY), Tone Deaf (Kingston, On), Suoni per il Popolo (Montréal) et MUTEK (Montréal). She also the plays the drums in the experimental duo « noise » Yomul Yuk and creates visual and sound interventions with Montreal musician Katherine Kline.

Exposition échange avec Centre3, Hamilton, Ontario

The Road Sign Project is a production of Centre3 for Print and Media Arts in Hamilton, Ontario, presented in partnership with Atelier Imago in Moncton, New Brunswick. The two art centres each invited eight artists to create road signs that incorporate the vernacular and syntax of email and text messaging. In Moncton, the outdoor sign project started in 1994, when Atelier Imago secured advertising space on a bus. The initiative served two goals: to bring awareness of printmaking by presenting art in public space, and to show what was being produced in the studio. Atelier Imago’s mission resonates with Centre3’s goal to engage our community in print and media arts. According to the Ontario Ministry of Transport, road signs function as regulatory, informational, directional, warning, fines and other, sometimes bilingual, guides to provincial highways. The sixteen artists in this project created a selection of markers that mimic the basic format of road signage. Their messages, posted in various downtown Hamilton locations, communicate a range of concerns from contemporary art and politics to the pathos of post-industrial urban existence and romantic relationships. Whether humorous, philosophical or authoritative, the signs may be contemplated, obeyed or ignored at the viewer’s personal discretion.
