Lilliput, exposition itinérante d'estampes miniatures dans une valise

Lilliput est une île imaginaire, dans Les Voyages de Gulliver de Jonathan Swift, écrit en 1721. Située dans l'océan Indien au sud de l'Australie, Lilliput est habitée par les Lilliputiens, des hommes de six pouces de haut (moins de quinze centimètres). Lilliput est constamment en guerre contre Blefuscu, une île voisine.

Lilliput and Blefuscu are two fictional island nations that appear in the first part of the 1726 novel Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift. The two islands are neighbors in the South Indian Ocean, separated by a channel eight hundred yards wide. ART EN BOÎTE 2013 14 février

Le 14 février, donnez à votre amour le cadeau idéal: une oeuvre. 

Les billets sont maintenant en vente pour la campagne de financement annuelle Art en Boîte de l'atelier d'estampe Imago. Cette activité permet à l'atelier d'acquérir et mettre à jour ses équipements et ses installations. Une vingtaine d'artistes participants font dons d'oeuvres qui sont placées dans des boîtes à pizza. Le détenteur de billet reçoit un numéro correspondant à une boîte. Le détenteur  est ensuite invité à se joindre à la foule et échanger l'oeuvre reçu s'il le désir. Art en Boîte permet aux gens de visiter l'atelier, voir et acheter des oeuvres d'artistes locaux, en plus d'observer des artistes estampiers à l'oeuvre. Cette année, Art en Boîte a lieu jeudi le 14 février au Centre Culturel Aberdeen, de 17h à 22h00.

Les heures de bureau sont du lundi au mercredi de 9h à 17h, ou sur rendez-vous. Imago est localisé au Centre Culturel Aberdeen, 140 rue Botsford, suite 17 à Moncton. L’atelier Imago, fondé en 1986, est un centre d’artistes autogéré ayant le mandat de faire la promotion et la diffusion de la création artistique en estampe actuelle.

On February 14 offer your loved one the perfect gift: Art. 

Tickets are now on sale for Imago's annual fundraiser Art en Boîte. This event enables the printshop to purchase and update much needed equipment. Twenty participating artists generously donate work that is randomly placed in pizza boxes. The ticket holder receives a number which corresponds to a box. The ticket holder is then encouraged to mingle in the crowd and exchange its contents if so desired. Art en Boîte is a chance for people to visit the printshop, see and purchase local work by local artists and watch printmakers in action. Art en Boîte will take place on Thursday February 14, at the Centre culturel Aberdeen from 5pm until 10pm.

Carole Deveau et Rémi Belliveau ont offert un atelier gratuit d'introduction en sérigraphie à six participants. L'atelier s'est divisée sur trois soirées avec l'impression des résultas vendredi soir parmi le public.

Carole Deveau and Rémi Belliveau gave a free introductory workshop to six participants. The workshop was spread over three evenings with a printing party open to the public on the Friday.

D'Arcy Wilson en résidence à Imago du 11 au 25 janvier 2013

L’artiste interdisciplinaire, D’Arcy Wilson est basée à Halifax et travaille surtout en performance et en vidéo. Elle a récemment exposé au Khyber Centre for the Arts (Halifax, N-É) au Odd Gallery (Yukon), au Owens Art Gallery (Sackville, NB) et à la Galerie Sans Nom (Moncton, NB). Wilson détient une maîtrise du University of Calgary (2008) et est récipiendaire de bourses du Conseil des arts du Canada, le Alberta Foundation for the Arts et ArtsNB.

Lors de sa résidence à Imago Wilson va revisiter la piece Tuck, une performance où l’artiste chante des berceuses aux specimens d’animaux sauvages du site historique du Parc National de Banff. Cette performance a également été présentée au Musée d’histoire naturelle à Halifax en Nouvelle-Écosse dans le cadre du festival d’art Nocturne 2011. Wilson va réaliser une série d’eaux-fortes rassemblant les spécimens, les scores et les paroles des chansons de ce projet. 

D’Arcy Wilson is a Halifax-based interdisciplinary artist working primarily in performance and video. She received an MFA in 2008 from the University of Calgary. Most recently, she exhibited her work in a solo exhibition, Protect Your Love at the Khyber Centre for the Arts, Halifax NS, and a two-person show, Fleshold at the ODD Gallery, Dawson City YT. Her work has also been exhibited at the Owens Art Gallery, Sackville NB, and Galerie Sans Nom. This past fall, D’Arcy was the Re-Focus Sustainable Art Artist in Residence, a residency hosted by Visual Arts Nova Scotia, The Khyber, and the Ecology Action Centre, in Halifax. She has also participated in residencies at the Banff Centre and the Confederation Centre in Charlottetown, PE. She has received grants from the New Brunswick Arts Board, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and the Canada Council for the Arts.

While artist in residence at Imago, D’Arcy will be revisiting her performance piece Tuck, in which she composed individual lullabies and then sang them to the wildlife specimens at the Banff Park Museum National Historic Site. This performance was repeated at the Nova Scotia Museum of Natural History in Halifax, during Nocturne 2012. D’Arcy will be spending two weeks at Imago to put the lullabies to paper. She will make a series of etchings that depict the specimens alongside the musical scores and lyrics of the songs.
