L’atelier d’estampe Imago offre une bourse annuelle à un.e candidat.e qui a gradué.e du baccalauréat en arts visuels de Mount Allison University ou l'Université de Moncton dans les cinq dernières années. Cette bourse vise à encourager et appuyer les artistes estampiers de la relève en leur donnant l’occasion de continuer leur production artistique en estampe au Nouveau-Brunswick.

Laura Watson est originaire de Georgetown en Ontario, et habite présentement à Sackville au Nouveau-Brunswick. Elle détient un baccalauréat de Mount Allison University et travaille en dessin, en peinture, en estampe et en broderie. Elle diffuse son oeuvre gratuitement par voie d’échange postal international et elle peut être considérée ou non comme membre du collectif The Society of Anonymous Drawers.
Pendant deux ans et demi, Watson a établi un réseau international d’art postal gratuit en créant des paquets de périodiques incluant des objets dessinés, brodés ou imprimés à la main. Ces paquets, composés de zines, poupées en carton, des insignes et des CD de musiques mixtes sont envoyés aux participants qui s’abonnent en envoyant quelque chose en échange. Ce projet est ouvert à tous et jusqu’à présent s’est manifesté avec 9 segments d’environ 200 paquets répandus à travers 20 pays. Ce projet a pour but de favoriser le rapprochement et la communication en utilisant la poste pour sa tactilité et l’investissement supplémentaire qu’elle exige.
Correspondances présentera une documentation récente du projet d’échange postal accompagné d’imagerie basé sur le folklore, le mélange du quotidien et le mythe et la magie avec l’histoire persistante et incertaine. Watson va correspondre avec les visiteurs par courrier pendant l’exposition.

Imago Artist-run print studio offers an annual bursary to a candidate who has earned their Bachelors in Fine Arts from Mount Allison University or l’Université de Moncton within the past five years. This bursary enables young artists to continue their practice in contemporary printmaking in New-Brunswick.

Laura Watson is an emerging artist from Georgetown, Ontario, currently living in Sackville, New Brunswick. A graduate from the BFA program at Mount Allison University, she works in drawing, painting, printmaking and embroidery. She disseminates her work for free through an international postal exchange and may or may not be a member of the open drawing collective, The Society of Anonymous Drawers.
For two and a half years, Laura Watson has operated a free, international, mail art exchange, hand-making periodical parcels of drawn, printed and embroidered objects which are mailed around the world. The parcels, made up of zines, paper dolls, badges, mixed CDs and posters, are sent to participants who subscribe by sending mail of their choice as a trade. This project is open to all and has so far manifested as 9 installments, with approximately 200 parcels sent to over 20 countries, the purpose being to foster connection and communication, employing the post for its tactility and the extra investment it demands.
Correspondences will present a record of recent and related work of the mail exchange project, with imagery drawn both from observation and from folklore, mixing the everyday with myth, magic and a lingering, uncertain history. Laura Watson will correspond with visitors by post throughout the exhibition.
